Great and Small Therapeutic Riding Center
Summer 2020 Great and Small is seeking student volunteers ages 14+ to work with participants with special needs in their therapeutic riding program. They offer weekly program volunteer opportunities, as well as opportunities to work in our summer camp program and internships (seniors only), all for MCPS-approved SSL hours. Interested? FAMILY SERVICES, INC.

SPECIAL EVENT OPPORTUNITIES: A. Each month our Early Head Start program has several special events. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, serving, food, children’s activities and clean up. Summer 2020 The Summer of Service Inclusion Community Service Camp at the Edlavitch DCJCC is designed for middle and high school students, with and without disabilities. At their camp, ALL campers work together to make the world a better place to be. Each day, you will visit a different nonprofit to do service work, and they have an awesome summer planned. Some of the nonprofits you will be working with this summer are: A Wider Circle, Food and Friends, So Others Might Eat, Seabury Resources for the Aging, Anacostia Riverkeepers, Humane Rescue Alliance, Capital Area Food Bank, etc. Campers will earn up to 30 SSL hours per week. They provide roundtrip transportation from Tilden Middle School to the EDCJCC for a nominal fee. Our camper to staff ratio is 4:1. See the attached document for more information: |

KID Museum - Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship Program at KID Museum is modeled on successful mentor and explainer programs in world-renowned science centers across the country that cultivate youth as facilitators for a comprehensive educational experience. KID Museum Apprentices:
- Work closely with Museum Educators to facilitate hands-on programming for children ages 4 – 14.
- Train to teach STEM and art-related activities, and learn how to interact with museum visitors.
- Have the opportunity to enroll in professional development sessions at the museum, in various disciplines (such as woodworking or 3D printing).

Rockville Library - Student Volunteer

Brooke Grove Retirement Center - Student Volunteer

There are several opportunities for students at Brooke Grove! They can easily work around student schedules related to school work, sports and other extra-curricular activities. While the list shows opportunities that reflect multiple positions available, there are also one-of-a-kind requests to fill. Volunteer coordinators do their best to match student interests to opportunities that will be of interest to them.
Volunteering at Brooke Grove requires attending a free volunteer orientation. Those are offered the last Tuesday of every month, from 6:30 – 8pm; however, students get SSL credit for attending the orientation. Forms are available on their website at http://www.bgf.org/about-us/volunteer.

For 40 years Jubilee has supported adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities as they live in and enrich our community. Jubilee services allow these individuals to fulfill their personal, family, social and spiritual needs. At Jubilee, there are volunteer opportunities for either the individual student or a group of students.

Of particular value to the students is the opportunity to participate in activities directly associated with actual performances, such as backstage crew and ushering as well as the opportunity to help with the construction of sets and other tasks required in preparing for a production, and other activities which support day-to-day operations. As a rule there is no prior experience required for participation in these activities, as they are happy to provide instruction as needed. Current volunteer needs are advertised on the website http://rlt-online.org , and e-mail of expressions of interest and requests for further information may be directed to the volunteer inbox at [email protected].
